1/72 Space Shuttle Forward RCS Module (for Revell)
In the vacuum of space there is no air and Space Shuttle's flight control surfaces (flaps, rudder, etc.) cannot be used to orient the vehicle. Enter the Reaction Control System (RCS). Comprised of series of small rocket motors called thrusters, the RCS is used at altitudes above 70,000 feet to control the pitch, roll and yaw of the Space Shuttle. The thrusters are powered by combining nitrogen tetroxide (N2O4) and monomethyl hydrazine (MMH). The toxicity of these chemicals is why the RCS is broken into removable modules that can disconnected from the Space Shuttle Orbiter and processed in separate facilities.
This kit provides a more accurate and detailed model of the Forward RCS module used on all Space Shuttle Orbiters, except Enterprise which never flew in space. A cutting template is provided to help with properly locating the replacement RCS module. Thruster nozzles are 3D printed with greater depth and accuracy than on the original kit. Highly accurate representations of the Thermal Protection System (TPS) tiles provide striking features to enhance your model!
